What is Body Mass Index?(BMI)

BMI Calculator is used to calculate your body mass index and determine if you are at a healthy weight for your height. Use this calculator for adults, 20 years old and older.

What is Body Mass Index

The body mass index (abbreviated as BMI) is a statistical measure which compares a person's weight and height. Though it does not actually measure the percentage of body fat, it is used to estimate a healthy body weight based on a person's height. BMI is a useful tool to determine if your weight is within the normal range, or if you are underweight, overweight or obesity.

BMI Formula

Body mass index is defined as the individual's body weight divided by the square of his or her height.
BMI can be calculated using pounds and inches with the following formula:
BMI = (Weight in Pounds) x 703 / [(Height in inches) x (Height in inches)]
BMI can also be calculated using kilograms and metres with the following formula:
BMI = (Weight in Kilograms) / [(Height in Meters) x (Height in Meters)]
